A new campaign has been launched in Carlow aimed at educating young people and their parents and raise awareness of the dangers of intimate image sharing. This project was a collaboration of Children and Young People’s Services Committee (CYPSC)  Carlow and Comhairle na nÓg Carlow.

Intimate Image Sharing is a significant and ongoing issue, widespread use of smartphones and social media has made it easier for images to be shared without consent. We hope to increase understanding of both the long term effects of intimate image sharing and the legalities of this in a youth friendly way.

This project is aimed at the senior primary school and junior secondary school age group and hopes to promote understanding for both young people and parents about this topic. Young people from Comhairle na nÓg in Carlow worked with Paul Byrne Designs to create the animation and its content.

The project is two fold- the animation is aimed at educating and awareness building among young people and the parents leaflet to give some information to parents about the dangers in the online world and provide direction to existing resources for support if needed.
